Launched in 2024,Lustre by Amouage is a unisex perfume that celebrates inner light and sophisticated elegance. This woody-floral composition by master perfumers Julien Rasquinet and Paul Guerlain combines the tradition of oriental fragrances with a modern interpretation of sensuality and depth. The opening accord is refined and slightly spicy - cardamom brings a subtle warmth, while orris (iris root) adds a powdery smoothness and luxurious character.
The heart of the fragrance is made up of noble woody notes that evoke calm, depth and inner strength. Creamy and smooth sandalwood combines here with the dry elegance of cedar, while an earthy trace of patchouli brings stability and sensuality to the composition. Lustre is quiet but present at this stage - like an inner charisma that doesn't need to be loud to be felt.
The base of the fragrance is deep, dark and mysteriously addictive. Resinous notes like myrrh, styrax, benzoin and labdanum create an almost incense-like, honeyed earthy finish, complete with sweet vanilla, smoky ambergris and an animalic cypriol accord. A silky touch of tonka bean smooths everything out and ties it all together into a unique, long-lasting track. The brand was born out of a passion to revive the art of Arabic perfumery and create fragrances from exclusive traditional Middle Eastern ingredients. Amouage bottles are as unique as the scents themselves. The women’s fragrances are presented in bottles reminiscent of the Palace Ruwi Mosque in Muscat, while the men’s fragrances are shaped like the traditional Omani dagger, Khanjar.
